WAEC Temporarily Withdraws 2025 WASSCE Results Over Technical Glitches

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a temporary withdrawal of the recently released 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates due to the discovery of technical issues during an internal review.
In a press statement issued by the Council’s Public Affairs Department, WAEC expressed regret over the situation and offered apologies to affected candidates and the general public. The Council said the issues were linked to a new innovation, paper serialization, which was introduced as part of its efforts to curb examination malpractice and enhance assessment integrity.
The serialization process, already in use by a national examination body, was deployed in subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics. However, a post-release procedure revealed technical bugs in the result presentation, prompting WAEC to take swift action to ensure accuracy and fairness.
“As a responsive and professional body, WAEC has decided to urgently review and correct the technical glitches,” the statement read. “As a result, access to the 2025 WASSCE results has been temporarily denied on the result checker portal.”
Candidates who have already checked their results are advised to revisit the portal after 24 hours for the corrected version.
The Council reaffirmed its commitment to excellence, fairness, and transparency in its assessment processes, and assured the public that the issue would be resolved within the next 24 hours.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of the public as we work diligently with urgency and transparency,” said Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs.
WAEC also thanked the public for their continued trust and confidence in the body’s commitment to delivering quality service to the Nigerian child.
