The Chairman of the Kwara State All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Sunday Fagbemi, on Saturday, September 13, restated that a voter’s card is still one of the criteria to join the party.
Prince Fagbemi made the statement during the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and Security Consciousness event organized by the party and held at Arca Santa Hall in Ilorin.
The event was well attended by eminent party stakeholders, political office holders (both elected and appointed), the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), APC executives, and other party faithful.
Speaking at the event, the APC chairman said it was organized to address party-related issues, create awareness on the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration, and promote security consciousness.
He added that possessing a voter’s card is essential and remains a requirement for anyone seeking to become a member of the APC. He therefore urged participation in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
Encouraging early registration and massive mobilization of eligible residents, Fagbemi noted that the exercise would complement Kwara’s gains under the administrations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. He charged each member to ensure that at least twenty people are registered through their efforts.
The APC chairman thanked President Tinubu for prioritizing Kwara, citing projects such as the Bode-Saadu–Kaiama Express Road, Enyenkorin Road, and others, while acknowledging the state’s advancements in infrastructural and human capital development.
“Both the President and the Governor have demonstrated adept resource management, with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq leading numerous road projects and improvements across all sectors of the state,” he stated.
Addressing the issue of insecurity, Prince Fagbemi noted that security is everyone’s business. He stressed the need for collaboration with security agencies to win the war against rising threats.
He urged Kwarans not to panic amid recent security concerns, reassuring them that the state government is collaborating with the federal government to address the situation through initiatives such as the establishment of a Forest Guard.
Still on security, Alhaji Muyideen Aliyu, Senior Special Assistant on Security to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, announced that up to 200 fully armed operatives of the Forest Guard would be deployed to each local government area in the state.
He also assured that there would be significant security presence at all registration sites, expressing gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq for his continued support of the security agencies in the state.
Alhaji Muyideen added that the National Security Adviser’s Office had sent security experts to Kwara to ensure the safety of lives and property in every nook and cranny of the state.
The Commissioners for Housing and Urban Development (Hon. Ogunshola) and Works (Hon. Abdulquawiy Olododo) highlighted the governor’s achievements in their respective ministries, praising the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum for his impactful six years in office.
The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi led all members to express full support for the government, passing a vote of confidence in the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration.
