President Bola Tinubu has named the M18 road infrastructure in Guzape District, Abuja after the celebrated novelist, Chinua Achebe. This announcement was made during the road’s inauguration on Saturday, June 8. Achebe, regarded as one of the pioneers of modern African literature, is best known for his iconic novel “Things Fall Apart”.

Through his special assistant on social media, Olusegun Dada, President Tinubu expressed his admiration for Achebe’s contributions to Nigerian literature. This gesture comes days after Tinubu named a major arterial road in the capital city after another literary giant, Wole Soyinka.

This move has been praised by many, acknowledging the significance of recognizing Nigeria’s rich literary heritage. The naming of the expressway after Achebe serves as a testament to his enduring legacy and impact on African literature.
