Say NO to Fake News: Clarifying Minimum Wage Claims for Kwara State
1 min read
A recent list circulating online claims to detail the minimum wage each Nigerian state is offering to pay, but this information is misleading and includes false data, especially regarding Kwara State. According to this list, Kwara is purportedly offering a minimum wage of ₦43,000. However, this is not accurate.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has not announced any such figure, and the state government has urged the public to disregard these unfounded claims. Disseminating incorrect information can cause unnecessary confusion and mislead citizens about the actual policies and economic conditions in their regions.
The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and other relevant bodies are actively engaged in negotiations and discussions regarding minimum wage adjustments across various states. It is crucial for information to come from verified sources such as official state announcements or recognized labor organizations.
In combating the spread of fake news, it is essential to verify facts before sharing and rely on credible news outlets for accurate reporting. By doing so, we can ensure that public discourse is based on truth and factual information, contributing to a more informed and cohesive society.
Let’s stand together against fake news and verify information before spreading it.
