Polytechnic Pride: Mass Comm Students Break Record, Launches Anthology

Kwara State Polytechnic has celebrated a milestone with the unveiling of An Anthology of stories on Campus,” a book written by Mass Communication Students, marking a proud moment for the institution.
The launch event, which took place at the Polytechnic Admiral Lawal auditorium, on Wednesday 7th 2025, was graced by top dignitaries including Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor; the Honourable Commissioner for Social Development, Hajiya Nnafatimah Mariam Imam PhD; Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, and the Special Assistant on Humanitarian Affairs to Kwara Governor, Hon. Prince Abdullateef Adebara.
The book, authored by HND II Print students of the department, is a compilation of personal experiences, fictional tales, and reflective stories that capture the dynamic life of students on campus.
In his keynote address, the Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, commended the Department of Mass Communication for fostering a culture of creativity and academic excellence.
Represented by the Deputy Rector Administration, Dr. Mrs. Felicia Awolola, the Rector applauded the students for bringing their classroom knowledge to life through the book, stating that “This is what education should be — a balance between theory and practice. I’m proud of the department for creating such an avenue that allows students to not only learn but to express themselves meaningfully.”
In his address, the Head of Mass Communication Department, Mr. Olohungbebe Fatiu, reiterated the department’s vision to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world practice.
Olohungbebe who stated that the project was a strategic step towards connecting class room and field practice, expressed appreciation to the Rector for providing an enabling environment that encourages innovation among students and lecturers.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye; the Honourable Commissioner for Social Development, Hajiya Nnafatimah Mariam Imam PhD; and the Special Assistant on Humanitarian Affairs to Kwara Governor, Hon. Prince Abdullateef Adebara in their separate remarks said the book writing is a well-deserved accolade, highlighting the Mass Communication department’s unwavering commitment to shaping the future of media and communication.
