One Year of Impact: Ilorin West Chairman Ladan Empowers Grassroots

• Appreciates Kwara Governor on impactful leadership
The Executive Chairman of Ilorin West Local Government, Hon. Abdulraman Babatunde Ladan, on Tuesday celebrated his one-year anniversary in office with a well-attended programme that featured prayers and empowerment for residents of the council area. The event, held at the Ilorin West Local Government Secretariat, Warah, drew political stakeholders, traditional rulers, community leaders, and government functionaries from across Kwara State.
In his address, Hon. Ladan appreciated the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, CON, for his exemplary leadership and support. According to him, the Governor’s commitment to the prosperity of Kwara State has inspired his administration to replicate similar progress at the grassroots. He emphasized that without God and the Governor’s guidance, achievements recorded in his first year would not have been possible. Hon. Ladan reaffirmed his commitment to aligning with the Governor’s vision by making Ilorin West a model local government in the state.
The Chairman highlighted some of the notable projects executed under his leadership, spanning infrastructure, healthcare delivery, education, security, and electricity. He pointed to improvements in road construction, school rehabilitation, primary healthcare support, and empowerment of youths as examples of his people-focused governance. He assured residents that his second year in office would usher in greater projects and developmental initiatives, building on the foundation laid in his first year.
The ceremony began with an opening prayer led by the Imam Imale of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh Abdullahi AbdulHameed, who prayed for continued peace, progress, and divine guidance for the council leadership.
As part of the empowerment programme, various items were distributed to beneficiaries to support education and economic development. Students received school bags and exercise books, while traders and artisans benefited from POS machines, grinding machines, and chest freezers to enhance their livelihoods. The initiative was widely commended as a practical step toward boosting self-reliance and improving standards of living at the grassroots level.
Dignitaries present at the event included Dr. Abdullahi AbdulHameed, Senior Special Adviser and Counsellor to the Kwara State Governor; Hon. Saadudeen Salahudeen; Kwara House of Assembly Leader, Hon. Oba Abdulkadir Magaji; Kwara Central Elders Caucus Coordinator and former Commissioner for Special Duties, Alhaji Razaq Lawal; alongside several political leaders, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders.
