NAKSS Hold 2022 Inaugural Sitting
2 min read…Increase bursary to N20,000 – Senator Hassan urges Gov Abdulrazaq
The National Association of Kwara State Students, NAKSS, National headquarters on Wednesday held its year 2022 Inaugural Sitting at the Kwara State House of Assembly Hallow Chamber, in Ilorin.
A motion raised by the National Senate President, Sen.Hassan Muhammed Hawal urged Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to extend and cohort more students into entrepreneurship, skill acquisition, and empowerment scheme, while he plead for the increment of the annual bursary from N5000, to N20,000.
Also, Senator Assurance from the Bayero University Kano raised the motion that NAKSS should set up the committee, the inclusion of selected Senate members, and visit all state-owned institutions. The motion was seconded by Senator Keto of the Obafemi Awolowo University
Senator Atunde of the University of Ilorin proposed that NAKSS should set up a committee on diaspora and partner with the ministry of tertiary education to deal with issues outside the state.
Another motion seeks that NAKSS should meet the ministry of transportation, and also collaborate with Kwara Express on how transportation is accessible for Kwara students.
The motion was raised by Senator Abdulqudus of Usman Dan Fodio University.
Senator Isiak Mohammad from the Kwara State University, Malete proposed that the Senate Council should have an inclusive bye-election as stated in the Association’s Constitution for the vacant positions.
Another motion proposed and read by Senator Abdulgafar from the University of Ilorin and seconded by Senator Adeniyi of Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studied said, “NAKSS should set up a committee for Constitution Review, and for the privilege to members to make propositions.”
