The Ministry of Environment in Ilorin has announced that the modified monthly sanitation exercise for the month of April will hold on Saturday, April 29th, 2023 from 7:00 am to 9:00 am. The exercise, which is aimed at promoting a clean and healthy environment, will require residents to clean their residential and business environments.
Despite the ongoing Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board Examination in the country, residents are urged to fully participate in the exercise. Waste management trucks will be on the streets for waste collection and disposal to the final dump sites during the exercise in Ilorin metropolis.
However, the Ministry of Environment warned that it is an offence to dump refuse on pedestrian walkways, road dividers, drainages, canals, and all other unapproved dump sites. Residents are therefore advised to dispose of their waste properly.
Speaking on the exercise, the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Yakub Kamaldeen Aliagan, urged residents to comply with the sanitation exercise, as it is aimed at ensuring a healthy environment for all. He also called on residents to report any individual or group found dumping refuse in unauthorized locations.
This exercise is part of the state government’s efforts to promote a healthy environment and prevent the outbreak of diseases caused by poor sanitation. The Ministry of Environment has also urged residents to continue to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings even after the exercise.
The modified monthly sanitation exercise has been a regular exercise in Ilorin, as it has helped to maintain a clean and healthy environment in the state. Residents are therefore urged to participate actively in the exercise and cooperate with the waste management officials to ensure the success of the exercise.
