Jigawa Pension Board Pays N1.5bn to 569 Retirees

• Over 20 States Have Visited to Study Pension Model
The Jigawa State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board has disbursed over ₦1.5 billion to 569 retirees, reinforcing its reputation as one of the most efficient pension systems in Nigeria.
Speaking during the disbursement ceremony at the Pension House, the State Head of the Civil Service, Muhammad K. Dagaceri, lauded the state’s pension model, describing it as one of the best in the country. He revealed that more than 20 states have visited Jigawa to understudy its exemplary pension management practices.
Dagaceri commended Governor Umar A. Namadi for his steadfast commitment to sustaining and improving the pension scheme, noting that the governor’s support has significantly enhanced the welfare of retired and active civil servants across the state.
“I urge all retirees and those still in service to continue supporting and praying for the government to succeed in its mission. Governor Namadi has demonstrated commendable leadership in prioritising workers’ welfare,” Dagaceri stated.
Also speaking at the event, Binyaminu Shitu Aminu, the Executive Secretary of the Pension Board, confirmed that a total of ₦1,505,449,327.78 was disbursed. He explained that the payments covered retirement benefits, death benefits, and death pension balances, ensuring comprehensive support for the beneficiaries.
Breaking down the figures, Aminu said:
287 retirees from state service received ₦875,625,045.00
158 retirees from local governments got ₦355,025,795.72
124 retirees from Local Education Authorities (LEAs) were paid ₦274,798,487.06
He reaffirmed the Board’s dedication to prompt and transparent disbursement of pension entitlements, including the regular payment of monthly pensions in the first week of every month.
The Executive Secretary emphasised that the Namadi-led administration remains committed to enhancing the lives of its workforce, both active and retired, ensuring that public service continues to be a path to dignity and security.
