Ilorin West Chairman Sympathizes with Ita-Nmo Market Fire Victims, Pledges Support for Business Recovery

The Executive Chairman of Ilorin West Local Government, Hon. Sheu Abdulrahman Babatunde Ladan, has joined the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq CON ably represented by Alhaji Abdulrazaq Jiddah to expressed profound sympathy to the victims of the recent fire outbreak at *Ita-Nmo Market*, which caused significant damage to shops, properties, and livelihoods.
During his visit to the affected site, Hon. Ladan reassured victims that the government is committed to providing the necessary support to help them recover and rebuild their businesses. He also emphasized the importance of vigilance and fire safety, particularly during the dry season, to prevent similar tragedies.
Speaking at the scene, the Chairman and Secretary of the Livestock (Goat Farmers) Association, Mallam Abdulraheem and Mallam Gawata, lamented the devastating losses incurred by goat farmers and other traders, including yam sellers and other businesses. They appealed for the government’s intervention and called for the kind generosity of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, to assist those affected.
The Ubandawaki Community Chairman, Mallam Issa Alowonle, expressed gratitude to Chairman Ilorin West, Hon. Abdulqowiy Olododo, the Kwara State Commissioner for Works, for his swift response to the emergency. His prompt engagement of fire service personnel was acknowledged as instrumental in containing the fire, despite the heavy losses.
Additionally, Hon. Maruf Onibanoje, the Honorable Councilor for Ubandawaki Ward, extended their heartfelt sympathy to the victims, reiterating their support for the community during this difficult time.
Hon. Abdulrazaq Jida, the SSA for Special Duties, conveyed the goodwill message of His Excellency, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, on behalf of the state government. He acknowledged the positive impact of the L-PRES program in supporting livestock feed sustainability and reassured the victims of the government’s unwavering commitment to agricultural development and business recovery.
The Ilorin West Local Government Council Chairman reaffirmed his dedication to the safety, welfare, and economic empowerment of residents and businesses, pledging to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to mitigate the effects of the fire and rebuild a thriving marketplace.
