Hon. Agbelere Honoured at NANNM One-Year Anniversary

The Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government, Hon. Lukman Garba Agbelere, has been honoured by the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Ilorin East Chapter, during the association’s one-year anniversary celebration.

The event, held at Ile Alawo Primary Health Care Centre, Okelele, Ilorin East Local Government, Kwara State, brought together nurses, retirees, stakeholders, and community leaders to celebrate the achievements and sacrifices of healthcare workers in the area.

In his address, Hon. Agbelere commended the association for its commitment to quality healthcare delivery and described nurses as the “backbone of the health system” whose services remain essential to the well-being of residents.

The anniversary featured tributes to retired members, who were honoured for their dedication and long years of service to the profession. The event also served as a platform to strengthen unity among practicing and retired nurses in the local government.

Highlighting his support for the health sector, the association presented a Leadership Award to Hon. Agbelere in recognition of his visionary leadership, unwavering commitment, and outstanding contribution to the promotion of public health services in Ilorin East.

Presenting the award, the chapter’s executives praised the chairman’s policies and interventions, which they said have significantly improved healthcare delivery and the living standards of people within the local government.

Responding, Hon. Agbelere expressed appreciation for the recognition and assured the nurses of his administration’s continued support. He pledged sustained investment in healthcare infrastructure and programmes that would make services more accessible and beneficial to the people.
