Gov AbdulRazaq Hails Igbomina’s Legacy of Self-Help, Attends 13th Cultural Day Celebration and Maulid Nabbiy in Kwara South

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq spent the day in Kwara South on Friday, celebrating with the people of Igbomina land during the 13th Igbomina Day at Iludun Oro and honoring the Chief Imam of Offa during a Maulid Nabbiy event. The Governor lauded the Igbomina community’s legacy of self-reliance and called for unity and peace among all ethnic groups.
At Iludun Oro, AbdulRazaq applauded the Igbomina people for their strong culture of self-help and contributions to education and enterprise, which he cited as reasons for their success. He emphasized the importance of national unity and warned against ethnic divisions, advocating for collaboration toward shared progress.
“This government is for all, including the people of Igbomina, who are not only robustly represented in government but have also benefited from the administration’s development initiatives,” said the Governor. He highlighted key infrastructure projects in Igbomina land, such as the Arandun-Esie-Oro Road, Owu Fall Road, Orisa Bridge at Oro Ago, and Owode Ofaro-Alabe Road, among others.
The Governor praised Igbomina’s cultural and traditional leadership, specifically acknowledging the Olupo of Ajase Ipo, Oba Ismaila Yahaya Alebiosu, for his support. AbdulRazaq also conveyed condolences to the Igbomina people over the recent passing of Chief Luqman Balogun (Jagun), a leader of the local hunters, and honored his memory.
Among the attendees at the Igbomina Day event were top government officials, royal leaders from Kwara South, national and state parliamentarians, and captains of industry. Notable figures included Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi (represented by Otunba Biodun Ajiboye), Senator Lola Ashiru, and the founder of Al-Hikmah University, Chief Oladimeji Igbaja.
In Offa, AbdulRazaq attended a Maulid Nabbiy celebration hosted by the Chief Imam, Sheikh Muhyideen Salman Hussein. During the event, he encouraged prayers for Nigeria and urged citizens to be grateful for God’s blessings. Sheikh AbdulQodir Muhammad Kamaludeen and Sheikh Muhyideen praised AbdulRazaq’s humility and his commitment to supporting the community.
Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, highlighted the Governor’s message of unity and collaboration, as well as his continued dedication to the welfare and security of the people of Kwara.
