The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has reaffirmed its commitment to creating a safe and progressive work environment for its employees. This was highlighted at the second edition of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work in Abuja, themed “The Impacts of Digitalization and AI on Workers’ Safety and Health.”
FIRS Executive Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, emphasized that while the agency is leveraging digitalization and artificial intelligence to enhance tax compliance, it prioritizes protecting employees’ mental health, cybersecurity, ergonomics, and overall safety. “We are building a digital and data-driven tax administration system where every individual feels valued, protected, and respected,” he said.
The event featured a Management Commemoration Symposium, Safety Awareness Rally, Interactive Safety Fair, and a webinar on health, ergonomics, and cybersecurity in the AI era. Adedeji noted that FIRS has been recognized by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity as one of the most safety-compliant MDAs in Nigeria under his leadership.
He reiterated that safety and employee well-being are central to FIRS’ transformation agenda, stressing that innovation and worker protection must go hand-in-hand as the organization continues its modernization drive.
