The Like Minds Progressive Team (LMPT) on Thursday, January 2, 2025, hosted its Cash Empowerment Program at GDSS Amule Okelele Ilorin Senior Block, Ilorin. The program, themed “Financial Empowerment and Self-Control Over Money,” was designed to support small-scale business owners while fostering economic sustainability among youths and women in the state.

This initiative aligns with the ongoing developmental strides of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Executive Governor of Kwara State.

During his opening remarks, Abdul Azeez Amunyankan, the convener of LMPT, acknowledged the dignitaries in attendance and reaffirmed the team’s commitment to empowering youths and women through various initiatives. He noted that, beyond the cash empowerment program, the group has facilitated multiple state job opportunities for its members.

He explained that the event was organized to provide financial support to small business owners, enabling them to grow their ventures.

The convener expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Chairman of Ibagun Ward APC, Abdulrauf Adanla, for his steadfast support and dedication to the team’s vision.

The guest lecturer, represented by Dr Biodun Yiita, delivered an inspiring lecture on the essence of empowerment. He defined empowerment as equipping individuals with financial aid to bring viable business ideas to fruition, emphasizing that success lies not in the amount of money received but in its proper utilization for sustainable growth.

One of the beneficiaries, Isiaka Abdulgaffar, shared his gratitude during an interview with Prudent Watch online. He thanked the Like Minds Progressive Team and the Honorable Commissioner for Works, Engineer Abdulqowiy Olododo, for their instrumental roles in the initiative. He urged other beneficiaries to wisely reinvest the funds into their businesses to achieve sustainability.

The cash empowerment was distributed across three tiers: ₦150,000, ₦100,000, and ₦50,000, each aimed at bolstering small business expansion.

The event was graced by notable attendees, including the Alangua of Ibagun Ward; Representative of Hon. Abduqowiyu Olododo; Hon. Moses Adeyefa; Hon. AbdulSalam Onidugbe, Special Assistant on Student Affairs to Kwara Governor; and other distinguished guests.
