The recent wave of defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a testament to President Bola Tinubu’s sterling performance, according to Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu. Speaking at the formal reception of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori into the APC, Governor Otu emphasized that the move is driven by a desire for a better future, rather than mere political calculations.
The event, attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and other state governors, marked a significant milestone in the region’s political landscape. With Delta and Edo States now under APC governance, Governor Otu noted that the South-South region is witnessing a new dawn of strengthened political realignment.
“A growing number of South-South states under APC governance is a dream realized,” Governor Otu said, highlighting the potential for deeper regional collaboration, accelerated economic development, and greater political stability.
He praised President Tinubu’s leadership style, describing it as transformational and inspiring trust, value reorientation, infrastructural rebirth, and economic rejuvenation across the nation. Governor Otu welcomed the Delta State governor and his supporters to the APC, urging them to leverage their experience and grassroots mobilization skills to advance the collective quest for a flourishing South-South and a renewed Nigeria.
