Abducted NPC official, Gloria regains freedom

After spending five days in captivity, a Federal Commissioner with the National Population Commission in Bayelsa State, Mrs. Gloria Izonfuo, who was abducted by gunmen along Ogbakiri axis of the East-West Road in Rivers State, has regained her freedom.

Mrs Izonfuo, a former Head of Service in Bayelsa State was abducted at the Ogbakiri junction in Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State while returning from a trip in Brass, Bayelsa state last Sunday.

The gunmen had whisked her away alongside her driver and maid.

According to the PUNCH Newspaper reports, the spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed her release on Friday morning.

“Yes, she was released this morning (Friday). Her driver and maid that were kidnapped the same day with her were also released.

” Investigation is still ongoing to apprehend the kidnappers and make them face justice,” Iringe-Koko stated.

Iringe-Koko added that the NPC federal commissioner has reunited with her family.

Asked if any ransom was paid before she was allowed to breathe the air of freedom, Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police said she was not aware of such.
