2023: PDP, Atiku chasing shadows, says APC

2 min read

The Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday took a swipe at the desperation of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential flag bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, for their continuous character assassination of the ruling party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The council maintained that the opposition and its candidate were only chasing shadows as their resort to character assassination and pay up of innuendoes cannot stop Tinubu’s political raising profile and victory at the polls come February 25, 2023.

Reacting to a statement by a Special Media Assistant to Atiku, Mr. Phrank Shuaibu, challenging Asiwaju Tinubu to reveal his real name and background, the APC’s PCC dismissed the statement as another attempt at shadow-boxing.

In a statement last night in Abuja by the Director of Media and Publicity of APC’s PCC, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the ruling party said the council was not surprised by the latest attack on its candidate.

It noted that the desperation of the Atiku camp was a result of the mounting setbacks in its campaign, hence the resort to another round of mudslinging,The NATION Newspaper reports.

The statement said: “Having failed to pull the wool over the eyes of Nigerians on its 16 years of infamous, criminal sabotage of our fatherland, in which Atiku as the overseer of the privatisation of our national assets programme, shortchanged our people, the PDP has just woken up to the reality that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s sure victory in the presidential election of February 25, 2023 is inevitable; hence, this desperate resort to character assassination and innuendoes.

“If only the PDP would go back to its records, it would have realised that the same campaign of reckless calumny was its stock in trade in the governorship campaigns in Lagos State in 2003. It had also been a subject of an investigation by the Lagos State House of Assembly.”
